9W Artists
9W Artists is an eclectic, culturally diverse collective of seven visual artists based in the Hudson Valley region of New York. The group was founded in 2024 by Jill Ziccardi who brought together a group of painters each selected for the rigor of their studio practice, their technical virtuosity, intellect, and lifelong commitment to their work. Each member of the group represents a distinct direction and voice within contemporary painting.
Paul’s recent works are emblematic in form, featuring an idiosyncratic catalog of subjects - vehicles, industrial forms, landscape and their contexts as hybrid, contingent, and shifting. His paintings are made with acrylic and flashe paints on construction-grade panels.
Cortes’ art examines two and three-dimensional formal perceptions. He draws on abstraction and realism to create imagery that emphasizes dynamic space.
Leticia’s work find solace in the open, shifting language of forms, where imagination guides meaning, and identity is fluid. When I paint, I think. When I’m in nature, I simply am.
In his new series Echoes of Grass, Ed breaks free from rules and studio constraints. Using the earth as his brush, he creates works that connect him intimately to nature, the universe, creation, and to his own mortality. The process freezes ephemeral motion—waves of grass—onto the surface of the paper and immortalizes their beauty.
Archil’s paintings express a personal version of magical realism and time.
Working with oil on canvas, Polly’s process and technique have similarities to action painting. She intuitively experiments with line, color and shape, with no clear image of the finished work. The resulting creation is one of struggle, determination and triumph, reflecting her response to a chaotic world.
Jill’s art is inspired by feminism, girl power and American slang language and embraces satire.
